I've got to give the creators some credit here, because they found ways to make the mechanics of the game fairly distinct from most other racing games. Jumping is also used to bounce off certain wall pads that are placed throughout the courses, giving you a boost of speed. As for the jumping, the height at which you jump in this game is much greater than in Mario Kart, allowing you to jump over holes. You can also hold up on the d-pad to make your animal dash, but this drains their stamina, eventually tiring them out. Unlike Mario Kart, you always have the ability to go on the offensive, even when not equipped with items, as every racer always has access to an infinite supply of explosives.

Louies were first introduced in Bomberman '94 for the PC Engine and Mega Bomberman for the Sega Genesis, whereas Tirras made their first appearance in Saturn Bomberman for the Sega Saturn. Instead, racers ride atop animals called Louies and Tirras, which are furry kangaroos and silly dinosaurs. While this game is obviously inspired by Mario Kart, it actually doesn't involve karts. Admittedly, Bomberman Fantasy Race does do a few unique things for a Mario Kart rip off, but the game is bad and its developers should feel bad. Bomberman Fantasy Race was a critical failure and is now considered to be one of the worst Bomberman games of all time. Unfortunately, this is one of the bad ones. Soon after the success of Mario Kart, many companies were quick to jump on the racing spinoff bandwagon, resulting in an overabundance of kart racers and the like.

The Bomberman series is typically known for its overhead puzzle games and amazing multiplayer, but being that this is a racing spinoff, it's completely different. If the ridiculous title didn't already tip you off, this is a Bomberman themed, 3-D racing game. It was published by Hudson Soft in Japan on August 6, 1998, Atlus in North America on March 31, 1999, and Virgin Interactive in Europe in July 2000.
